TRAINING ACADEMY CHRISTMAS PARTY (Dec 2011)
Kyle, one of our Wedding Hosts, organized a terrific Christmas Party for all members of Team Trevenna. Collected by coach, we headed out, off the farm into town for a Christmas treat, before returning to Trevenna for a night cap by the fires.
The night out was extra special with previous members of the team returning from University for Christmas, coming along with us.
Thanks Kyle for a fun night out
FOOD FESTIVAL (Dec 2011)
Celebrating the arrival of our new Marquee and in preparation for 2012, we will be hosting a Trevenna Food Festival in February 2012.
All couples who have confirmed a date for their wedding and also couples who are visiting Trevenna for a wedding viewing are invited to attend.
A selection of our Wedding Feast dishes will be available for tasting, our Wedding China will be on show with tables laid in the different sizes.
Some of our excellent suppliers will also be available by appointment. Couples wishing to taste our House Wines and discuss these with Julia from Atlantic Wines can do so by appointment. Sharon our Trevenna florist will be around to explore your decorating ideas.
This is a relaxed opportunity for couples and their families or friends to view the Threshing Barn, Marquee, and barns before we enter the busy season. Members of the Trevenna Team will be on hand to discuss your individual wedding ideas and share ideas.

Due to popular request, Julia & Toby, have also sourced a delicious new Pink Prosecco and Champagne
CHRISTMAS TREES (Dec 2011)
Winter is a beautiful time of year at Trevenna, showing off the structure of the mighty trees and rural views. Inside the barns are cosy with under floor heating and real log fires. Living Christmas Trees light up each barn, with wreaths on the barn doors and a homemade natural Christmas Garland in the Farm House.
Christmas Weddings at Trevenna are full of atmosphere
LITTLE HARBOUR OPENS IT’S DOORS (Dec 2011)
Thanks again to everyone that attended and gave towards the Barn Storm Charity Event back in 2009 raising money for the Children’s Hospice South West, “Precious Lives Appeal”.
Trevenna raised £5,000 towards the building of Cornwall’s first hospice for life limited children. Your kind donations have gone along way, and the “Little Harbour Children’s Hospice”, opened its doors in December 2011.
NEW MARQUEE STRUCTURE (Dec 2011)
News Flash!
New for 2012, Trevenna will have its own Marquee fused with the Threshing Barn to provide a seamless wedding venue.
Continuing the natural tones of exposed stone walls, slate and wood from the Threshing Barn, the Marquee will have a contemporary feel and provide an inspirational space for Wedding Celebrations.
Intentionally, our Marquee is will act like a beautiful blank canvas, encouraging couples to add their individual wedding style. Decorations may be minimal from a simple string of country bunting, to elaborate architectural floristry, rustic tables to formal dining.
Our Marquee will have a complete clear gable end over looking the Pond, the Arbour and out towards the fields. An impressive slate floor will create a sweeping backdrop for all Wedding Feast tables. On warm sunny days, roll up the Marquee sides and let the outside in.
Our new contemporary Dining Chairs blend with the chic designer furniture throughout our barns, and will not necessarily require chair covers.
HERBS (Nov 2011)
Trevenna’s walled kitchen garden produced vegetables and salads for many generations. Now, the kitchen garden is gradually being reinvigorated to produce fresh ingredients for our Wedding Feasts.
A fully productive garden takes time to establish. Our first modest dig towards full production is our Herb Garden.
Herbs add a depth of flavor to any dish and are naturally available in some variation across all the seasons. Our Kitchen Crew demand the freshest herbs for our Wedding Feasts, and in the future they will be able to pick them for the Big Day. So, where do we use herbs? We marinade Rack of Lamb in Rosemary & Mint, with white wine and garlic, tenderising overnight. Our Green Salsa uses Basil & Parsley to create a subtle taste smoothing out the bite from mustard and anchovies.
COCKTAIL (Nov 2011)
The Welcome Dinners have become a real highlight to our 2 Night Wedding Celebrations.
As the first time that all the resident guests and couple are together in one place at Trevenna, the Welcome Dinner tends to be very social…
The feed back and comments from the Welcome Dinner experience have been so positive with many couples saying it was an excellent opportunity for the family and friends to get to know each other before the big day.
So the Team wanted to do our own bit towards making the Welcome Dinners even more fun with our NEW Welcome Dinner Cocktail, as a complimentary drink from us served to kick start the welcome evening during 2012.
A few cocktail varieties will be sampled at our Christmas party before we announce the Trevenna Welcome Cocktail,… watch this space.
END OF SUMMER PARTY (Sept 2011)
Last week we said a fond fair well (or hopefully see you soon) to some of long serving Wedding Hosts after 3 years of committed service, now on their way to University. Our End of Summer Party was brilliant fun and a tiny but emotional in places.
We are so proud of you all!
Our team at Trevenna have shaped what we are and how this place feels, from welcoming guests on the arrival day and hosting celebrations.

Richard Nicholls at Trevenna
August 2009
Richard Nicholls, award-winning chef, is now head chef at Trevenna.
During a coffee break around the kitchen table at Trevenna, Richard explained to the team that, “since childhood I have consistently been amazed by food. Combining flavours, textures and colours to create dishes is something I have enjoyed doing since I first began cooking in my Mum's kitchen”.
From this day, we knew we were in good hands. Richard has worked with some of the best chefs and in some of the best restaurants in the South West of England. Richard trained with the Tanner Brothers in Plymouth (owners of Tanners and the Barbican Kitchen), has cooked for Prince Charles and many other well known faces.:
Richard states, “many of the restaurants I have worked in have won awards for the food they serve, however my proudest moment has to be winning my first Rosette within nine weeks of opening the Dartmoor Union which went onto win the Best dining Pub award in all of the country”.
Outside of the kitchen Richard really takes advantage of the local area as much as possible. I am a keen cyclist and Cornwall and Devon have so many fantastic places to go cycling particularly the coastal path and the moors. Richard kayaks quiet and often emtpy stretches of coastline. Richard has said, “the sea has always been a special place for me and this is reflected in the food I cook with seafood dishes being among some of the most exciting to serve”.
Farm House Kitchen Garden
August 2009
Work started early in 2009 preparing the old stone walled Kitchen Garden for fresh planting during this Autumn and into the spring season of 2010.
Apple & plum trees, gooseberry & raspberry bushes have been pruned, staked up and ready for new growths.
With requests of what to plant from Richard whilst preparing his wedding menus at Trevenna and under the guidance of our head gardener Neil Graze, the first plants will be various types of Broad Beans going in this October.
Everyone at Trevenna is looking forward to home grown Broad Bean fricassee served with Cornish roast rack of lamb.
New Wedding Menus
September 2009
Richard Nicholls has created new menu suggestions for canapés, the wedding feast, BBQs, welcome dinners and guests Breakfasts.
Richard says, “all our food served from the Trevenna Farm House Kitchen takes direction from the surrounding farms and the Cornish sea. For example, our new smoked mackerel pate is produced from line caught mackerel brought in daily to Looe harbor”.
New canapés include mini Yorkshire puddings with roast Cornish beef, Cornish fish cakes & lemon mayonnaise and brocolli & blue cheese mini quiches.
Richard has increased the range of menu styles for the Wedding Feast from Trevenna’s signature Gastro Style Farm House menus of classic roast meats with seasonal vegetables to include informal Bowl Foods served in elegant bowls with forks, BBQs and rustic miniature cottage pies and fish bakes.
Trevenna’s Farm House desserts are proving ever popular and Richard continues to enhance the presentation of our Wedding Feasts.
Opening the doors to Trevenna Farm House
September 2009
Couples & Guests who have stayed at Trevenna during the summer of 2009 will have seen Bryn (our carpenter) & crew busy restoring the Farm House at Trevenna.

Old slates in the floors have been repaired and fair few new ones added to provide a continuous slate floor to the ground floor rooms.
For wedding guests, the upstairs of the Farm House will provide 3 ensuite bedrooms (sleeping 6 guests in double rooms).
